Grateful Day #56

Today I am grateful for Father Dale's sermon from today. The Gospel reading today is one of my favorites. It is from the Book of Matthew and it always reminds me to reevaluate my priorities.

This is my favorite part: "Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?" Matthew 6: 27 - 28.

I'm amazed at how this ties into yesterday's post of "Live, Love, Laugh". Even Jesus is telling us... stop worrying... start living. It's going to be ok.

Recently I've become so overwhelmed about the state of everything. The wars, the conflict, the abuse, hunger, poverty, disease, politics - everything that I have no control over. I can hardly even watch the news or read the paper. What is this world coming to?

Well, this reminds me... don't worry - that won't make a difference. But, can I do something? I think I can. If I don't have the treasures to fix it, maybe I have some talent. I can't turn my back and pretend the mess isn't there....

Father Dale closed his sermon with this question (forgive me for the paraphrase) - "What principles guide your decisions?" Indeed, I have to think about that. What principles DO guide my decisions? When I'm really honest, I know there are times I could have done better. I could have been a better example of God's love. I'm going to have to work on that.

Hope you had a wonderful weekend and a wonderful week.
